Cheerleading Skills
Cheerleading has many components that are compulsory in a competitive cheerleading routine. At Gymtastic we will teach you all the skills you need to be a cheerleader............
STUNTS: usually a group of 4 - 5 team members consisting of: bases, flyer, back & front spotters that work together using acrobatics & lifts to create mind blowing stunts.
A Flyer (also known as a top person) is the one who gets lifted by the bases & tossed into the air.
Base the team members that lift, toss & catch the flyer
Pyramid A connection of stunt groups with awesome transitions & choreography to perform amazing tricks
Basket Toss where the all the bases work together to toss the flyer high into the air and then catch the flyer. The height that can be obtained from this toss is incredible.

JUMPS: Jumps are performed by using exploding power in the legs. Types of jumps are: Straight, star, tuck, toe touch, hurdler, herke & pike. These are the main ones used in cheer routines.

TUMBLING: Tumble is an important part of a cheer routine. It includes forward rolls, handstands, cartwheels,  round-offs, handsprings, flips, aerials & more.

MOTIONS: are arm movements which must be executed with strength & precision. Such motions include high/low V, T, touchdown, K, L, diagonal & others.

POM: Pom routines are part of the 'Dance' section of competition. Poms must be used in 80% of the routine. Pom routines are mainly about clean & precise motions with tight synchronisation and visual effect which also incorporates dance elements, formations, level changes and team work.
